THE AREA

Westside Cottage is located in Newby village, a beautiful and tranquil area which rests just under Ingleborough, one of the famous Three Peaks and easy access to many walking routes.

If you plan to explore this wonderful area, then why not start by heading into Clapham with its village shop, a vintage gift shop and a bespoke wool and handicraft shop, as well as a pub and cafés. The village is an ideal base for walking, climbing or potholing and horse/pony trekking, as there are numerous bridle paths in the area. It has a lakeside nature trail, through mature woodland and surrounded by spectacular limestone before reaching Ingleborough Show Cave. The trail takes you to Trow Gill and past Gaping Gill, Britain’s largest pothole, eventually bringing you to the summit of Ingleborough. Also close by are White Scar Caves and the famous 4-mile Ingleton Waterfall walk.

If you want to explore further why not take a trip to Hawes, famous for the Wensleydale factory where you can book a tour and shop for cheese until your heart’s content! The old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is only 5 miles away and is great for fine dining, traditional pubs and cafés as well as boutique shopping. Westside Cottage is ideal for exploring The Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Pennyghent, Wornside and also Gaping Ghyll, and is a fantastic location to stay and explore the entire Yorkshire Dales!

You can also reach the southern Lake District within 30 minutes as well as the West Coast of Lancashire. Beach 23 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1.7 miles.
